Salem, OR

Timeline: 2021-Present

CPSC is currently working with the Salem Police Department on a three-year trust-building plan.  Together, CPSC and SPD, are mining lessons from and building on the unfinished work of the U.S. DOJ’s National Initiative for Community Trust and Justice

Based on this work, Salem PD is undergoing a comprehensive policy review and organizational change process, which will seek to apply procedural justice to critical internal and external policies in partnership with community stakeholders in an effort to build trust with populations who need the police the most but trust them the least.
