Timeline: 2018- Present
This project, in partnership with Professor Rodrigo Canales of Yale, Innovations for Poverty Action and the Mexico City government, is focused in one of Mexico City’s most violent neighborhoods. Together, we are working on the many complex challenges of improving public safety in modern day Mexico.
The Results:
- Early findings suggest a reduction in homicides of up to 40% in the Plateros neighborhood of Mexico City.
- This effort is currently scaling to additional Mexico City neighborhoods with violence challenges.
- This is the first successful implementation of focused deterrence in Mexico.
- More findings are currently being evaluated in partnership with the Yale University School of Management.
